This series of portraits was based on an immigrant Jamaican cafe owner called Eason Cook who was my neighbour on the London Road in Reading, where I lived  as an art student. We used to play cards, drink coffee, talk about his life in Jamaica and sometimes help his wife Vi with their Tax returns. Eason missed Jamaica and spent most days framed by the cafe window, watching the traffic fly by on the London road.
