    Drowned Man’s Pockets

As with a lot of my work, this ongoing series is based on an article I read. This one, sadly which I can no longer find, was about the tragic case of dead immigrants being found on the mexican border. On these particular corpses they found numerous items in their pockets, considered to be good luck charms. Often they found photographs but in one case, they found a dead bird – if I remember rightly, a canary. A tragic image of two failed flights. I chose to create a Golem series (which are always invented rather after a real photographic source) that hinted at possible photographs someone might take with them on such a perilous journey that ends up underwater.
