Phossil/planches
Interpreted from a private collection of old photographs from the 7Galerie in Sète, France. All presented on found wooden supports. (many thanks to Franck Gibert for many of these supports which he so diligently collected!)
NOTE on process…My paintings on porcelain resemble photographs which I refer to as Phossils. (The process is long involving preparation of flat plates from fresh porcelain. Once dry, they are fired at approx. 900ºc. Using a mixture of powdered oxide and several other ingredients, I then paint directly onto the ‘biscuit’ porcelain. Once complete I then fire it a second time at approx. 1280ºc.)
