Phossils II
One looks at and into, a typically presented photograph. Flipping a photograph onto its side or back introduces a third dimension, thereby becoming an object. This transformation is the starting point of the series ‘Footage has emerged’. The photographs I’ve chosen to paint from, are a mixture of found and personal photos. The process is long and involves printing up photos, arranging them into a still life and then painting the result, which I often obscure with a layer of marble sand.
